How do I take care of my leather?
- I hear clients tell me – your breech wear like iron – I just wash them in Tide and throw them in the dryer – NEVER – NEVER - NEVER DO THIS - you are shortening the life of the leather doing either one. It takes the oil out of the leather much faster. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IN CARE BUTTON
How do I get stains out of breeches?
- Carry stain sticks to shows with you so you can put them on breeches as soon as you are through riding – put breeches in plastic bag till you get home to wash them. The longer the stain sits the less likely to get it out. Shout is good for oil-based stains – just NEVER USE REAL BLEACH OR NEVER USE OXI-CLEAN ON LEATHER. I have yet to hear of one that is good on clay – if you know what works – let me know & I will add it to this answer.
Can you make & rush my order?
- Most times I can do this for you – if I am really backed up and have to work extra time that takes from family – I will tell you rush charge of $50 or so. You normally get one free rush & then if you make a habit of waiting till last minute – will be charged for rush. There are times I just cannot do it and will say so when you call or e-mail.
Can I get a different color seat on my full seats or extended knee?
- Yes if possible. You cannot put black deerskin leather on white or light colored breeches but you can do black cord seat.
What is difference in grip of deerskin and corduroy?
- Deerskin is the best grip but you have to take care of it – you will feel the weight of them and in some dressage movements when you just want to slide your leg back a little – you will have to pick up your whole hip to move it. If I talk 10 people out of full seats into deerskin extended knee or cord seats – 9 of them will be delighted and never go back to leather full seats but some only like the feel of real leather. The corduroy stretches and breathes and is no worry wash. Cords are half to 3\4 the grip. If you ride in knee patches now – a cord full seat will triple your grip – leather extended knee will give even little more. I know that full seats are in with some people but they do not give as much – you feel the weight when you are walking around.
Can I put the breeches in the dryer?
- Only the U.S. tights with cord seats – in permanent press cycle & not in hot dryer – YOU CAN LOSE THE ELASTICITY OF THE LYCRA IN ALL THE FABRICS WITH HOT DRYER.
The micro cottons will need to be washed and dried once in dryer to get them to shrink – the try on breeches were washed and dried once to get them to shrink since they shrink 2”. I have to worry about someone making a mistake and putting breeches in dryer and then having a pair that does not fit.
The Schoeller Swiss will shrink little over 1\2” so that is not enough to make me wash and dry every try on pair. If you know you are going to dry them in dryer – talk with me and consider going up one size – which is 1” larger. Even if you do accidentally dry them – you will still be able to wear them. But try not to dry them.
With leather on cotton breeches– only dry one time – DO NOT repeatedly dry leather – it dries it out faster.
I am to tall or short for breeches – how will you fit me?
- When I send you the try on breeches I will walk you thru how I make adjustments to patterns to fit you. Most tall riders can fit in my tall patterns – if taller than 5’10 you will likely need semi- custom adjustments to leg. If you are under 5’4 you will likely need semi- custom to shorten leg or you can get the tights which can have the leg ending folded up once and not bother your riding.
Will I get newsletters of new items or sale items?
- Yes – all “on file” clients who have ordered a pair of breeches within the last 3 years gets the newsletter mailed to them. At some time I will get it set up so I can e-mail you all the newsletters.
Do you sale your client mailing list?
